UN Women conducts the first Steering Committee meeting on the project “Enhance government capacity for quality and effective GBV response services in Kurdistan Region of Iraq”

UN Women in partnership with UNFPA and in coordination with the High Council of Women Development in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq conducted the first Steering Committee meeting on the project “Enhance government capacity for quality and effective GBV response services in Kurdistan Region of Iraq” funded by Government of Italy through Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo AICS.

During the meeting, the Steering Committee Terms of Reference and the Project Workplan were presented and endorsed by the Steering Committee members which is represented by the High Judiciary Council, Presidency of Public Prosecution Office, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Interior / Director General for Combatting Violence Against Women and AICS. Dr. Khanzad Ahmed, Secretary General of HCWD focused on the importance of the project in strengthening the Kurdistan Regional Government in responding to all kind of Gender Based Violence. While the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in KRI focused on the importance of this project to strengthen the synergy between KRI government institutes that provide services to women subjected to violence.
