A series of handicraft training workshops convened in women shelters by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq concluded in June 2020.

The workshops were convened in the period May 1-June 30, 2020 in the governorates of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok as part of the project “Strengthening the Resilience of Women and Girls and Host Communities in Iraq, Jordan and Turkey”, which is supported by UN Women and the European Trust Fund Madad.

Organisers said 40 women survivors of gender-based violence benefited from the workshops which aimed to offer them moral support as well as provide them with skills that would enable them to earn a living once they leave the shelters.
