October 2024, Baghdad - UN Women, in partnership with the National Directorate for Iraqi Women (NDIW) and the High Council for Women and Development (HCWD), hosted a high-level roundtable to advance the role of women in Iraq.

This important event brought together key stakeholders from the international community, all working towards a common goal: strengthening partnerships and enhancing coordination to ensure impactful, sustainable progress for women and girls across Iraq. As part of this collaborative effort, UN Women also presented the first draft of its Strategic Note, outlining key priorities and actions to further support women's empowerment and their active roles in Iraq in the coming years.

With the steadfast support of UN Women, NDIW, and HCWD, incredible strides have been made in promoting women's roles at both the federal government level and in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Together, we’re shaping policies and programs that directly address the needs of women across the nation.

Let’s continue to work together, creating opportunities and building a future where women thrive. Join us in our mission to empower women and foster lasting change!
